Carlos is a Bay Area native and started working as a file clerk at SJC in October 2017 and now as a paralegal. Carlos enjoys being able to contribute to an organization that offers low-cost and pro bono legal representation to the many immigrants that reside in Oakland and its surroundings.
Before SJC, Carlos graduated from Lee University in Tennessee with a Bachelors degree in Sociology. Carlos volunteered for Southeastern Tennessee Youth district as a director, working with other leaders to improve certain aspects of the youth through events, workshops and retreats. He also worked as a translator for the Dixon Research Center in Tennessee and Crossover Ministries as a volunteer by distributing resources to impoverished areas.
Carlos’ goals are to gain experience in the field of law and eventually obtain a JD degree in order to become an immigration attorney and represent communities in the place that raised him, the Bay Area. It inspires him to be able to know that he can give back to the community that watched him grow.
