Emily Abraham is the co-founder and legal director of SJC. She has worked for underrepresented and low-income clients for many years and believes that legal advocacy is a natural means for her to continue her passion. Before law school, she was a paralegal at a small immigration law firm in San Francisco and engaged primarily in defense of noncitizen clients and family law. She attended Northeastern University School of Law, the nation’s leading public interest law school, to become an immigration lawyer. In addition, she has a domestic violence certificate from the Asian Women’s Shelter and was given the community organization award through the Alameda County Bar Association. Emily graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from UC Davis. Emily speaks Spanish and is the Pro Bono Coordinator at the American Immigration Lawyers
Association’s (AILA) Northern California Chapter. She is a member of the California Bar and the Northern District of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.
