Jessica Solis is an undergraduate at UC Berkeley majoring in Political Science and Philosophy. Jessica’s passion for social justice has been motivated by her mother’s struggles. As a first generation student, Jessica strives to alleviate the injustices that have long plagued her family and her community. Her lifelong devotion to community service has only fueled her passion for social justice. Jessica has organized various brown bagging events, distributing nutritious lunches to day laborers and informing them of their basic rights. These experiences have allowed her to hear their stories and exposed her further to the injustices within the immigration system. As community service chair for Hermanas Unidas, Jessica was able to put her passion to work by organizing various events to benefit low-income communities including clothing drives, food drives, and toy drives. Her time at the East Bay Community Law Center exposed Jessica to the possibility of addressing the issues that her community faces in a legal capacity.
