Kathy Dwyer joined SJC’s Board of Directors in January 2016, bringing with her over 30 years of varied experiences in the education, non-profit, government and business sectors.
Most recently she was the Executive Director at Harbor House Ministries in Oakland for six years, where she was responsible for all program, financial and marketing aspects of the nonprofit. It was through this work that she directly worked with refugee and immigrant families and developed an understanding for the difficulties this group of people face. For the past several years, she has also served as the co-chair for the Oakland Fund for Children & Youth, which oversees the distribution and oversight of $14,000,000 to programs which benefit children up to 21 years of age.
She has an extensive background working with a number of local nonprofits as a board member and highly successful fundraiser. She looks forward to contributing her valuable skill set to SJC with the intention of furthering SJC’s mission to provide high quality legal services to low-income immigrants in the Bay Area.
Kathy and her husband Terry are long time residents of Oakland and are the proud parents of three adult children.
