Patsy is a student at UC Berkeley that’s currently majoring in Political Science and Legal Studies along with minoring in History. She was born in Fresno, California, and raised just twenty minutes north in Madera, California, which are located in the Central Valley. As the youngest child born to Oaxacan immigrant farm workers, Patsy became interested in social justice and accessible representation in the legal system for all from a very young age due to her parents and neighbors facing discrimination as farm workers. During her childhood, her parents would take her to the fields for lack of access to affordable childcare, and it was there where she witnessed she experienced the harsh working conditions and unfair treatment from farm owners that her parents endured for over 30 years.
Patsy is fluent in Spanish and English and works as a file clerk with SJC. Patsy aims to graduate from UC Berkeley in the next two years in order to attend law school. She hopes to return to the Central Valley so she can provide affordable holistics legal services to her community as an immigration attorney.
