Sarai Hernandez Orantes
Sarai Hernandez-Orantes is a second year undergraduate, majoring in Legal Studies. Although she was born and completed school in Inglewood California, she moved to Santa Monica at the age of 10 where her family currently resides. As a first generation college student, she aspires to guide other students through the college processes.
She has previously interned for the Raza Retention and Recruitment Center and continues to be a HYPHEE mentor, an organization that aids high school students pursue higher education. From this mentorship Sarai has developed a passion for mentoring and hopes to be able to continue this as a lifelong activity. Sarai gained a passion for law stemming from personal family experiences living in the Los Angeles area after witnessing the unjust treatments of family and friends. She aspires to attend law school in order to prevent the separation and damage, deportation can cause to a family. From Social Justice Collaborative, Sarai looks forward to gaining the knowledge and experience needed to open doors and provide opportunities for immigrant families.
