FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I AM A NEW CLIENT LOOKING FOR REPRESENTATION OR ADVICE, COULD YOU HELP ME?

Call our main phone number 510.992.3964 to schedule a consultation process with one of our staff members from Social Justice Collaborative.

Have the following documents ready when you call:

·   Any immigration document you have received; for example a document from a judge.

·   Any documents you haven’t sent to immigration authorities, such as applications, receipts, or notices.

·   Copies of any arrest, sentence, or ticket you may have.

After the first call and once we have received the required documentation, we will schedule a free phone consultation to take place Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. When you set up your consultation, you will receive instructions on how and where to send your documents via email or SMS, so we can make the process faster and better.

Make sure to answer your phone on the scheduled date. Due to the high volume of calls, we have a zero-tolerance policy for lost consultations. If our personnel cannot communicate with you during your scheduled consultation, we won’t be able to provide the service.

CAN YOU HELP WITH A QUESTION REGARDING AN EXISTING CASE?

If you already have a case or are a recurring client, please get in touch with the legal assistant or staff member from SJC who is working on your case. If you don’t know that information, please call 510.992.3964 to speak with a receptionist. If a copy of a client’s file is requested, please get in touch with the attorney in charge. You can contact SJC staff members through email at (their first name) @socialjusticecollaborative.org. Make sure you use the first name and no nicknames. Last names won’t work.

Can I apply for an internship at SJC?

Yes! Visit our website internship page to get specific instructions on how to apply for an internship position. Only applications submitted through this online portal will be considered. Once you have sent your online request, it will be reviewed and a staff member will get in touch with you if more information is needed.
