Joel learned about social justice from a very young age. His father, a lawyer and social fighter from Tampico, always told him about the times when he worked along with others to improve the lifestyle of people in his hometown. Those stories made him understand that all humans deserve the same rights and that's what we should always stand for.

This interest persisted until Joel grew up and became a professional. Although his major is not related to law, he understands the need for a more equal society where everybody has the same opportunities. Working at Social Justice Collaborative is an opportunity to help others in a similar way his father did, and a way to retribute all those who helped him to become who he is.

Joel attended Universidad Tecnológica de Altamira, where he got a Bsc in Nanotechnology Engineering with a focus in Material Sciences. He also got an MSc in Engineering from Durham University (UK).
