Pro Bono @ SJC

There will never be enough legal service nonprofits to serve the overwhelming need of immigrant families for free representation. We rely on the private sector to support our work by volunteering so that immigrants across California have access to high quality legal representation.

SJC has been partnering with firms and in-house counsel for years to meet their pro bono goals. Pro bono is a huge part of SJC's programming, and each year we are able to serve hundreds of more clients through leveraging volunteers from the Bay Area. With the support of firms and in-house counsel, thousands of hours of attorney time have been donated to immigrant families in California.

Pro bono workshops

SJC partners with firms, their corporate clients, and in-house counsel to host half-day workshops throughout the year. These workshops may be held at SJC’s offices in Berkeley or Modesto, or also may be held remotely.

pro bono appearance

SJC's launching the SIJS Appearance Volunteer Program, connecting California-licensed attorneys with immigrant youth in need of pro bono representation. Volunteers assist with guardianship or custody proceedings to secure critical court findings necessary for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), creating opportunities for stability and lawful residency.
