Our Collaborative

A client-centered approach to immigrant legal representation.

Client-Centered Approach

At SJC, we employ a client-centered approach to lawyering. We empower clients to make informed choices in their legal matters. This means every person we represent is treated as a partner in their own case, not merely a file number.

Our collaborative model is built on two pillars: working directly with clients and partnering with community service organizations to provide comprehensive support that goes beyond legal representation.

Working with Clients

Every client is an individual with unique circumstances, fears, and hopes. Our attorneys and behavioral health team work together to ensure clients understand their options, participate in their case strategy, and feel supported throughout the process.

Community Partnerships

We partner with community service organizations to address our clients' holistic needs, from mental health and financial stability to housing and employment access. Together, we build a support network that extends far beyond the courtroom.

Why "Collaborative"?

The name Social Justice Collaborative reflects our core belief: no one faces deportation alone. Our model brings together attorneys, behavioral health workers, pro bono volunteers, community organizations, and most importantly, clients themselves in a unified effort to protect the rights of immigrant families.

Founded in 2012 by two lawyers fresh out of law school, SJC was born from the reality that many immigrant families were facing deportation proceedings alone, unrepresented, simply because they could not afford the extremely high cost of a private attorney.
