clinic model workshops

Limited-scope. Limited commitment. Huge impact.

These workshops are great for volunteers who are pressed for time but still want to contribute. They can also be great team-building activities for firm attorneys and their corporate clients, or smaller in-house counsel legal teams. This opportunity is open to attorneys and non-attorneys alike. Volunteers without experience are encouraged to participate and interpreters are always provided!

Adjustment of Status (Full day clinic)

Each year, SJC helps hundreds of clients adjust their status from asylee to lawful permanent resident. We are able to help so many clients through this essential step towards becoming U.S. citizens with the help of pro bono volunteers. We offer half-day workshops in our Berkeley or Modesto office, or remote through video teleconference technology.

special immigrant juvenile status (full-day clinic)

Youth are extremely vulnerable to deportation, and the law does not require that youth be given attorneys to help defend them from deportation. SJC provides free services to all children and youth. If you want to make a difference in a immigrant child’s life, this clinic is right for you.

Work Permit Clinics

This 3-4 hour pro bono clinic provides a meaningful volunteering opportunity for attorneys, non-attorneys, and legal teams to create positive change. A Work Permit is a vital resource to help asylum seekers who fled unimaginable hardship, rebuild their lives. You can play a crucial role in empowering them to provide for their families and champion their right to live with dignity and prosperity.

This was a wonderful experience! It has encouraged me to seek out more volunteer opportunities to help with AOS applications and immigration issues. I learned so much through the training and through completing the forms. It demonstrated to me how unnecessarily difficult the immigration process was, but it was rewarding to make it an easier process for the client. Thank you for this opportunity!
